As the title implies, this piece is the result of a semester’s worth of experiments with reflection, refraction, and self-representation.

Video and projection have become valuable tools for exploring and presenting my identity. Through video, I am able to transpose complex internal turmoil into visual chaos. Projection has become a tool to both view myself externally and present myself to the world. Add reflective surfaces to projection presentations, and the light is able to bounce off of the gallery wall, merging with the environment and the viewer. 

In this piece, the frame represents the restrictions I placed on myself for how I present my identity to others. I sought to rupture these personal barriers and symbolize the emergence of a new, more colorful identity. The shattered reflection on the floor is the portrait of my new self, chaotic and currently undefined.
