An Artist Alone

Installation / Video Art - 2024

The piece began as an exploration into boredom and evolved to become an introspective look at my psychology in a stressful yet commonplace situation. To create an honest representation of my voice, the typing is screen recorded and unedited apart from speed. My humor, anxiety, and boredom are all on full display.

The ticking audio, non-white background of the video, and slow rotation of the camera create an uneasy (and slightly queasy) feeling, echoing the unease that I was feeling while following my train of thought.

The initial exhibition of the scrolling text was in a 360 degree projection space with immersive audio, and the original video was ten minutes long and included more self-reflective typing. Please contact me for a link to the whole work.
